Steve: How many tattoos do you have?
Kay: I have two.
Steve: What are you tattoos of?
Kay: A big colorful butterfly, and a Bobby Jack monkey with a crooked halo and holding a Dale Jr. flag.
Steve: What do the tattoos symbolize?
Kay: My crazy, eccentric, and silly personality; and my love for monkeys and butterflies. Butterflies are free spirits and fly wherever they want. The Bobby Jack monkey is silly and comes up with witty sayings. I’ve always been a Dale Jr. fan and I wanted to be different by combining the two.
Steve: Where are your tattoos?
Kay: The monkey is on my outer right calf and the butterfly is on my outer left calf.
Steve: What was the pain like?
Kay: First off, I hate needles and was nervous about getting them done. I thought it was gonna hurt like heck, but it wasn’t that bad at all. I held onto my rolled-up pants and was fine. It’s like pin pricks or something. It kind of stings a little.
Steve: What made you want to get tattooed?
Kay: I had always found it interesting and wanted something different. I think they are unique and they let you be you.
Steve: Any advice for people looking to get tattoos?
Kay: Think about what you really want, decide what you want, and go for it. Let your true self show.
Steve: Plan to get anymore tattoos?
Kay: Yes, when I find what I’m looking for. I want something about my cat and lilies. Maybe another monkey with angel wings.
