For the past two-plus weeks, the results in getting Flickuum worthy movies have been a little more consistent, compared to the span of late-October through the wee hours of November 25, 2024. And while that’s encouraging for the progress of The Project, it was unfortunately overshadowed by the plodding momentum killer, known as “Chinatown”. Let’s begin.
First up, I don’t even want to acknowledge “Chinatown”, as the thought of that movie causing me to drag ass two days ago makes me very angry. So, with that being said, I’ll instead think of the movie that kicked off this two-plus week run of success, with that movie being “Wicked: Part One”, due to the vibrant presence of Ariana Grande. Yes, she injected new life into The Project, thus I decided to look up her filmography to see if she has any other movie(s) that can also inject such life into it. And sure, enough she does, as she lent her voice to the 2014 computer-animated movie “Underdogs”. Yes, the latter of the three movies probably won’t outrank her most recent movie nor her next upcoming (Wicked: Part Two) movie, but her presence in a substantial role is always welcome, so don’t be surprised if the computer-animated movie ends up being one of the 561 that makes it to the New Year’s Day 2027 deadline.
When it comes to movies for the late Sinead O’Connor, well she appeared in three of them as an actress and two of those movies are already on the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page. And of course, with that being said, her last chance at Flickuum lore comes in the form of “Hush-A-Bye Baby” yet it can only be seen via YouTube. However, should that movie pass its assessment, then trying to obtain it on physical copy will be unlike any other such experience in my life. Stay tuned.
I thought that I was done granting pardons to movies on the Movie-Ocrity/Dishonorable Mention page, but a sudden resurgence for Michelle Rodriguez makes me want to re-assess “Widows”, especially since I found her departure from the tomboy persona to be very convincing in that movie. So, with that being said, a pardon will be granted for that movie as soon as another movie can be fielded for an even exchange.
And finally, seeing the review of “Flow” by a YouTuber named Mainely Movies a little over a week ago caused me to write down the three other movies that she recommended since she spoke so highly about that movie. And of course, with that being said, I had to look at that list of recommendations to see which movies they were, followed by getting clarity on one of them via watching that video again. And as to what those three movies were, well you can find out via the chart below:
Movie | Why it will be added to the assessment/re-assessment roster |
Away | This was Gints Zibalodis’ directorial debut of a movie, as “Flow” came five years after. And given the success of his second movie, his first one is worthy of an assessment. |
Robot Dreams | A movie about a lonely dog finding a true companion in a robot has this dog lover giving this a movie a hard “yes”, from the standpoint of assessing it. |
The Bear | This movie has a vibe that is similar to “The Adventures Of Milo & Otis”. Oh yes, and this was the movie that I needed clarity on. |
Well, the group of movies vying for The Flickuum Project is called the Land Of Infusion for a reason, with that reason being that these six movies are just the latest additions to the very intense competition of trying to join something that was both started by “Wildcats” and extended by “Dazed And Confused”. And given the expectations of all six of these movies, well they too could very well find their names etched along with those two Flickuum inductees, as well as the other 1,135 Flickuum inductees.
Until the next time.
