Flickasbord, Volume 81

It’s been three days and three evaluations since reaching 1,100 yet the movie that is still trending in my mind is “Carmen”, due to how powerful that it is throughout. As a matter of fact, it’s resonated with me so much that it’s going to replace “Never Back Down” in my foreseeable for fun watch line-up. Yes, that’s how transcendent of a talent that Melissa Barrera is.

When it comes to movies vying for spots in the 2,101 through 2,301 selection protocol, the number of available spots is actually 73 and not 83, as I have set aside nine movies for that protocol, thus putting at least 27 movies up for assessment/re-assessment behind The Flickuum eightball. And of course, with all of that being said, you can find out the nine movies and why they are in their own reserved hub via the chart below:

MovieWhy it’s in a reserved hub
Sister ‘14If a 2014 movie with Tiffani-Amber Thiessen as a single mother can be in The Project, then this 2014 movie with Nadine Velazquez in that same exact role should be there as well.
Moving McAllisterIt can form a uniquely successful tandem with Sister ’14. Plus, Dorothy The Pig totally deserves to be a part of Flickuum lore.
Vicious CircleThis movie has a “grow on” vibe about it. Plus, it’s a 21st century version of River’s Edge.
Lousy CarterThis movie has a very nice aesthetic to it, and it boasts a trio of gorgeous actresses in Olivia Thirlby, Jocelyn DeBoer and Trieste Kelly Dunn.
FirebrandDreary aesthetic period piece movies have a successful track record of making The Project, which bodes well for this movie. Plus, this movie’s cause is further helped via Alicia Vikander as its lead.
Blackwater LaneThis movie gets more clever as it goes on, and it provides a one-two punch of gorgeousness in Minka Kelly and Maggie Grace.
Hit ManAdria Arjona makes this movie come to life whenever she appears in it, and it can be a good jump-starter for The Project.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel FIt’s the third-best movie of the 40-year franchise and it can be a good complimentary movie to Carmen.
The WatchersIt can be good in tandem with Firebrand.

And finally, there is another reason why “Carmen” is getting in the foreseeable for fun watch line-up, as I have decided to assess one Melissa Barrera movie (Manual De Principiantes Para Sere Presidente has already been assessed) that predated her meteoric rise of “In The Heights”, and watching that particular movie not too long after evaluating the former of the three movies is going to be a step down. Alas, that movies is a flier movie, which is the 2019 movie “Two Times You”. Now let’s see if it can both A) Be a worthy assessment and B) Be attainable via hard copy.

Well, that reserved hub of movies could have one more via that pre-In The Heights one, depending on points A and B of the prior paragraph. And as to when I’ll get my answer to one and/or possibly both, well that will be sometime after I finish my evaluation of “Armored”.

Until the next time.
