The Burn-A-Ment, Part 2

Three days ago on the In A Pinch page, I cited the rules for the tournament in which 10 movies will compete for the vacated Catch-22 Hundred spot of Saltburn. And of course, with that being said, this entry will focus on the 10 movies that will compete in that tournament via the typical chart format. And not only will this entry focus on them via the typical chart format because in addition, they will be listed top 10 style, along with each of them having a reason why they were chosen.

Let’s begin.

MovieWhy it was chosen
Scream ‘22Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega as a tandem are totally deserving of Catch-22 Hundred lore.
The Last RideSince the evaluation of Snitch, Nadine Velazquez has proven that there is no such thing as too much of her in the Project.
Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole ChristmasThis movie can work well in tandem with the movie that’s listed above it.
Silent NightThis movie is a mash-up of Face/Off, Desperado, the 2004 version of The Punisher and the John Wick franchise, which are all movies that either have been or will be enshrined into the Catch-22 Hundred page rankings. Plus, this movie has the potential to be a good jump-starter for the Project.
Richard JewellIf Patriots Day can be in Catch-22 Hundred lore, then this movie should be as well.
FantasiaMickey Mouse in the wizard uniform is simply classic, as well as the early Disney animation.
6 Month RuleThe fact that Natalie Morales has a substantial role is good, but the ending is a bit of a letdown.
ReminiscenceThe presence of Natalie Martinez and how this movie was shot are the strong points, but it’s also way too clever for its own good.
The LandA second Natalie Martinez movie, although this one is slightly inferior to the aforementioned Reminiscence.
WarThis boasts both the presence of Nadine Velazquez and the potential to outrank Street Kings, thus why it’s the last movie to make the cut.

In summary, the chart above features a solid top six and a movie (War) that is the seventh best in this field, despite it being the tenth seed. So, with that being said, the validity of the tournament won’t come into question if any of those seven movies win. However, if either 6 Month Rule, Reminiscence or The Land ends up winning instead, then whichever of the seven worthy movies that advances the farthest will be awarded the spot. But for the spirit of competition, let’s hope that it doesn’t come to that.

Tune into the 12-19-23 Nog Report for the outcome.
